Illustration for chapter one of Christine Sparks' book adaptation of the 1980 masterpiece film The Elephant Man directed by David Lynch. Joseph Carey Merrick was a real Victorian-era Englishman who became known as "The Elephant Man" because of his physical appearance and was exhibited as a freak in a circus side show. Depicted here is Sir Frederick Treves, the famous surgeon that befriended Joseph.

You know, I've never gotten the chance to read that book? I knew of its existence, just never got the chance to experience it.
But this picture manages to take me there. I can imagine the words forming a picture just like this .
ASAP, I'm going to see if my local library has it. I'm just itching to read it after seeing this piece! It's so beautiful! X3 :heart:
